The Vaaranam Aayiram star had a complaint to make at the audio launch of Paiyaa, which was held at a city multiplex recently. “Karthi grew a beard for Paruthiveeran and his performance in that film was better than what I had done in the industry for almost ten years,” he said, “And, just when I thought I could do some films and be successful, here he is — with Paiyaa — and treading into my territory!”

Going by the trailer and the songs that were screened, Karthi certainly seems to be doing that. “I’m grateful to Lingusamy for giving me such a huge opportunity,” he said, “He’s made me look handsome in the film, something that I was craving for, post the rugged look in Paruthiveeran.” Music for the film, which has Tamannaah playing the female lead, is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. “I don’t speak a lot at functions,” said the shy composer, “I prefer my music to speak instead.”
